Cathays Community Centre
Renowned for its innovative youth programmes, informal educational facilities and not-for-profit activities, the volunteer-run Cathays Community Centre — home of the Cathays And Central Youth Community Project — continues to offer inspiring and potentially life-changing schemes.
It is this approach that has made Andy Edwards — a former local resident and MD of renewable energy leader AE Energy Solutions — extend a helping hand to save the centre both energy and money!
Reporters and photographers are welcome to attend Cathays Community Centre from 9am on Tuesday 8th May, where Andy Edwards and his team will be on site to install complimentary cavity wall insulation that will not only save the centre thousands of pounds for the procedure itself, but as a renowned energy saving solution, will also allow the centre to continue saving copious amounts of both money and energy on an annual basis.
AE Energy Solutions MD Andy Edwards explains;
“Having grown up in the area, I’ve always been aware of the key role Cathays Community Centre and its programmes have played in the local community. They do so much good work, and as a community-based business, we want to be able to help the community centre not just today, but for years to come.
“An un-insulated building can lose as much as 33% of its heat through the walls, so cavity wall insulation can significantly reduce heating bills and allow you to heat a building more efficiently.
“Like all of our energy saving measures — cavity wall insulation comes with an added ‘feel good factor’ as heating a building more efficiently will significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions (a key contributing factor to climate change), so the centre won’t just be reducing their bills but also helping the environment!
“With this in mind, our contribution of cavity wall insulation will help reduce the centre’s energy bills enormously, which will in turn enable them to invest the significant money saved to develop and continue the projects and good work it has become renowned for.”
